Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager
by crawfordn » Tue Aug 15, 2017 9:21 am
Marc, Since the last update cash disbursements are creating a "client" security and debiting it while making a corresponding purchase of the default cash account. I have to manually remove the client security and change the default cash account item to a sell. For the moment, I will just uncheck these transactions on the download and do them manually. Am I missing something? Rick

Hi Rick,
Are you retrieving transactions (OFX) or importing them from a *.TRN file?

Hi Rick,
Do you have on the import option "Combine All Cash Transactions Into Default Cash Account"?
It sounds like you do have a default cash account assigned, correct?

Could you email me the .TRN file that causes one of these? You can edit it first to change the account number to something like 12345. Just keep the same number of digits. The .TRN file is a text file, so you can edit it with something like Notepad.
I just sent you an email, so you can reply to that.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the file. You sent a CS<date>.TRN file. Those are Schwab's older file formats. I'd recommend only downloading/importing their new core B/D files. This newer transaction file has a filename format of CRS<date>.TRN. When importing, only import the CRS files if you have both. If you're importing all files in a folder, move/delete the CS files before importing, or just don't download the CS files to begin with.

Hi Mark, I've just updated to FM 2018 and it looks excellent. Answers a lot of issues. Regarding the Schwab downloads, I am now working off the new versions and have found one problem. When foreign dividends are distributed, I also receive appropriately distributed expenses for ADR fees and foreign taxes. FM seems to be reading the ADR fee correctly as a debit but is crediting the foreign tax amount. I'm not sure if this is a Schwab issue or FM... Rick

Hi Rick,
Were you importing these correctly in Fund Manager 2016? Maybe you can email me a sample transaction file that shows this problem?

This problem is unrelated to the 2018 update. It began when the new Schwab import module appeared and appears to relate to the newer Schwab Transaction files. I will email a copy. Rick

Thanks Rick. I see the issue, and we'll have it fixed for the next release.
