QIF File Import

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby richarch » Mon Dec 17, 2007 8:36 pm

Hi,

I'm using Quicken on the Mac (2006, 15.0.5 R6). I'm trying to export a QIF file that can be imported into Fund Manager, but I'm having a lot of trouble.

First, I tried just exporting a single account, using the settings you recommended in the tutorial. That did not work. Then, I tried exporting the entire file to one big QIF and importing that. Neither process worked. In each case, I had one or two transactions instead of 7 years of data.

Any insight?

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard,

Where are you running Fund Manager? On another PC, or on the Mac somehow?

A couple of thoughts:

1) Open up your QIF file in a text editor (like Notepad), and make sure you see all of your transactions. This will verify that they are being exported okay.

2) A QIF file is an ASCII file. On Macs they use different line ending characters than on a PC (carriage return versus carriage return plus a newline character). You may need to somehow convert this file to have proper PC line endings, so that Fund Manager can read it properly.
Thanks,
Mark

That was exactly it. I opened the QIF in notepad, resaved it, and it imported cleanly.

Thanks!
