Sector updating

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

I recently imported a number of transactions and I'm not able to get the sector update to work for any of the stocks. For example, Pfizer (PFE) is not getting categorized. This is on the latest version and quote module.

The log just reports "FAILED":

Sector Retrieve Log
04/29/2024 at 17:11 using version 2024.18.2 with module 602.

Thanks, I see this too, for both Sector and Asset retrieval. We'll have to investigate...

I'm seeing this inabiltiy to update Sector as well. Any update on a resolution?

Unfortunately, we still aren't able to retrieve the asset/sector information. It may not be something we can resolve. Given that Yahoo was the last server offering this information, we may need to remove the feature of retrieving asset/sector information in the next version.

Update: It looks like this will be fixable, but will require an update to the main program. We hope to have this available soon, and will post back here when it is available.

Version 2024.18.3 is available now on the download page, and resolves the issue of retrieving asset type and sector information from Yahoo. Please let me know if you have any more troubles.

Confirming the upated has resolvled the issue. Here's to Yahoo keeping that field available for all,

Hi Mark,

I'm running Version 2024.18.3, but it states on the Sector Retrieval dialog box that "Tip: Updates Stock investment type. All others skipped." I hope this is wrong per this thread since I wasn't able to update the sectors for mutual funds, which is going to be a major problem for me if this is the case.

Hi Craig,

Unfortunately the tip is correct. Since the loss of Morningstar as a retrieval source the functionality of this feature is reduced. You can of course still manually update or if you have another source you can also import, but retrieval is limited.
