E*Trade transaction retrieval

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby hipped1 » Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:43 am

Is anyone else having issues retrieving investment transactions from E*Trade. The process worked fine yesterday, unable to retrieve transactions from any accounts this morning. Message received is Failed to retrieve portfolio.

Hello hipped1,

If you look in “Help / Logs / Transaction Retrieve (Raw)…” does it have anything helpful? You can email the log file to me if you’d like me to look at it.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello hipped1,

I tested it from here, and it appears to be working, although I'm not testing it with a real account. It is responding with an expected response for an invalid login though. If you're not getting anything in response, then maybe there is a connection issue. Have you tried re-starting your PC?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

The problem appears to be correlated to a Windows update which I applied earlier today.

August 27, 2024—KB5041587 (OS Builds 22621.4112 and 22631.4112) Preview

One this Windows update was installed, I was unable to retrieve any transactions from E*Trade accounts. The retrieve still worked from Ameriprise and Fidelity accounts.

I did a system restore tonight rolling back this update and I am able to retrieve transactions from E*trade.

Hi hipped1 and katlizjen,

I see the same issue after installing KB5041587 Preview. The issue was only affecting E*Trade as far as I could tell. I'm not sure what the actual problem is, or how to fix it. As this seems to be an optional Windows update for now, hopefully this issue will be fixed before any future non-preview version of this update is released.
Thanks,
Mark

We've looked into this some more. E*Trade's OFX server is replying with a 403 Forbidden error for some reason under Win11 with this KB5041587 installed. If anyone has a contact at E*Trade that might be able to help us work through this issue, please let me know.
Thanks,
Mark

It appears this issue has been resolved, I am now able to retrieve transactions with the Windows update applied.
