I invested in a partnership. Occasionally they provide a list of my contributions, distributions, pro-rata realized write-ups/write-offs of positions sold, unrealized write-ups/write-downs of the change in value of the underlying positions, and ending balance. All are in dollars (no shares). I want to keep track of the realized vs unrealized distinction.
How do I book realized and unrealized write-ups/write-offs?
