Balance Reconciliation

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Gualjohn » Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:31 am

I have several money market accounts in different sub portfoilos. A couple of them (with unique names) show a balance different from the actual balance in the account that I get by going directly online to the account. The transactions don't appear to be updating either. Is there a function to synchronize or reconcile the balances in FM with the actual account balances?

How can I avoid the problem in the future?

Hi Gualjohn,

Do you have these set up as your "Default Cash Account" for these sub-portfolios? If money automatically goes out of or into this money market, then you'd want to assign it as your default cash account. You can retrieve transactions using "Edit / Internet Retrieve / Transactions...". This will retrieve any missing transactions in your investments. However, if you already retrieved a transaction while the money market was not assigned as the default cash account, it won't retrieve the same transaction again. You can make a one-time adjustment buy/sell.

You can reconcile any account. Use "Edit / Reconcile...". This doesn't correct un-balanced investments, but it displays them so you can make whatever corrections are required.
Thanks,
Mark
