Updating Cash

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby LLORD » Wed Jan 20, 2010 12:56 pm

Hi Mark:

The default cash account is not being updated when I retrieve transactions from the broker. I double checked to make sure the 'Import investment banking transaction into default cash account' is checked off but, the cash is not updating. Where have I gone wrong :? ?

Hi LLORD,

What type of transactions? Are you expecting some investment banking transactions, or are these purchases/distributions/sells in other investments in your account? Are you checking the option "Automatically Record Corresponding Entries in Default Cash Account" on the transaction preview screen? Do you have a default cash account assigned in your sub-portfolio properties?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark:

These are all stocks and options. I have verified the '...corresponding entries in default cash' has been selected. I do have a default cash account assigned for each portfolio. I am having the same issue with the cash in all three accounts. I am not sure where I went wrong but, I am sure that I was consistant :( .

Hi LLORD,

The default cash account must be assigned at the time you retrieve/import/enter your transactions. Assigning it after retrieving does not retroactively cause cash side transactions to automatically be recorded. Could this maybe be the problem? If you retrieve a new transaction now, that shows in the Preview transaction dialog, do you see a cash side transaction recorded? Look in the "Data Register" under the "Investments (all)" data type.
Thanks,
Mark
