Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby trader1 » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:57 am

Cannot find any stock option symbol information that will download quotes into Fund Manager. The symbols I use will pull up correct option quotes on the yahoo web site, but will not download into Fund Manager. Ex: QQQQ Feb 14 Calls have symbol X.QQQBR from the CBOE. Yahoo uses QQQBR.X for their symbol, but it will not download into Fund Manager. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi trader1,

Yahoo changed their symbols for options, and also no longer provides option pricing in the "Download" format. If you look up that quote on Yahoo, you'll see the new symbol is: QQQ100220C00044000. Also, unlike stocks/mutual funds, there is no "Download Data" link, which is where Fund Manager is currently getting the quotes on Yahoo.

It is possible they may add the download format back in once they get things straightened out. However, we are planning on adding a new server "Yahoo (Options)" that will get the option quotes directly from the HTML instead of using the "Download" link.

We've just now updated the online status for this server, and you can check back periodically by selecting "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...". When the new quote module is available you'll be able to download it through this command.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi trader1,

A new quote module is now available that offers this new "Yahoo (Options)" server. For more details on this server, see the announcement.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Did the updates to the modules and picked the Yahoo(options) server and changed the symbol, but still can't see to get the prices to update yet. Please keep and eye on this.

Hi Homer,

What is a sample ticker symbol that you're trying to update?
Thanks,

Hi Mark,

Here are a couple

XUX110122C00016000

VBA110122P00007500

I am probably going to have to update the CUSIP also to match the new symbols at my broker, huh.

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

Thank you. I see the same problem when using these symbols. It looks like we will need to publish another quote module update to fix this.

I'm not sure if the CUSIP will change on options or not...
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Mark. If you use the Yahoo Options server it works again.
