Downloading Distributions

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Ivan » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:11 pm

Mark,

I use Fund Manager to compare investments, including distributions. It's quite a bit of work to enter the back distributions manually. Is there a way to download them?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Yes, there are 2 ways of downloading distribution data:

1) If you own it, you can retrieve distribution data with your transactions from your broker. If you're interested in distributions for something you don't own, then this method won't help.

2) In the Professional and Advisor versions you can retrieve dividend and split data from the Yahoo (Historical) quote server. Any dividend data available on Yahoo can be retrieved this way. You just do a normal price retrieve with this server, and you'll see options to retrieve dividends and/or splits. When retrieving dividends you have the choice of whether to record them as distributed or reinvested.
Thanks,
Mark
