Slow Quotes from Bloomberg

In many cases quotes aren't available at Yahoo so you have to retrieve those from Bloomberg. To retrieve quotes from Bloomberg takes lots of time with several time outs. To retrieve 13 quotes from Bloomberg can take up to five minutes with 5 - 10 time outs (with high speed internet).
Isn't there a way to speed up the Bloomberg quote retrieval?

Hi Milli,

The interface to Bloomberg is definitely slower than Yahoo. Yahoo makes it easy to download multiple prices in an efficient manner, but Bloomberg doesn't. However, it seems unusual that you are getting so many timeouts. I just tested it now, and retrieved about 50 symbols without any timeouts. It retrieved at a rate of about 0.30/second. You can see this rate on the status dialog during the retrieve. For you to get 13 quotes in 5 minutes is a rate of 0.04/second, which is much slower...

Do you always get these timeouts, or is it only at certain times of the day? Is it on a particular symbol?

Also, you might try making sure you have "Options / Internet Settings / Proxy Server / Use Windows Settings" turned on.
