Thanks for the help. I can see how this would cause confusion if you don't know about this. I've updated our "transaction retrieve tips" page.
Hi Steve,
You would need to set up each fund in its own sub-portfolio. You can then retrieve the next higher level sub-portfolio, and leave on the option to retrieve all subs. For example:
Retrieve the "American Funds" level (or even Master), and this will also retrieve all the subs in one shot. Unfortunately, you really have an extra layer of sub-portfolio hierarchy to set up that you probably really don't want, but since each fund requires a separate login, this is how it would need to be done.
Since only 5 fund in America Funds, I'll just do manually and not bother with a subportfolio.
Another problem... No matter what date range I use (ALL DATES or date range going back to 1997) only data that will download is the earliest 2007 data. This is even if "skip transaction already in FM investment" in unchecked. I even created a new emply investment to be sure. I have transaction every year back to 1997. American Fund customer service is looking into a possible reason on their end even though they "don't support Fund Manager" and asked me to update them for future reference if I find out anything from you. S.
Hi Steve,
It is not uncommon for brokers/fund companies to only keep a limited amount of historical data on their OFX servers. The amount kept varies by broker/fund company. Some keep the full history, some 2 years, some only 90 days, etc. It sounds like American Funds is only keeping data on their servers back to early 2007. You can verify this by looking in the log files from the retrieve. These allow you to see the raw data retrieved (and requested). You can search for any transactions earlier than 2007, to make sure they aren't in there. See the "Technical Details" section at the bottom of this page for help with the log files: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/tintrtv.html A second way you can verify that the issue is with American Funds, and not Fund Manager, is by using a free trial of MS Money to retrieve. You should only be able to retrieve the same amount of transaction history in that program as well.
