Problem with Yahoo price retrieve

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Ivan » Wed Aug 29, 2012 1:05 pm

Hi Mark,

I normally download prices for my investments daily from the Yahoo server. For the last few days I have been getting a message saying "One or more servers were unable to retrieve any prices. Would you like to red the online help on possible reasons prices could not be updated?" Not a major problem as the Blookberg server works, but it is very slow. Is there a problem with the Yahoo server that you are aware of? Is there a way to determine which investments are having the problem so I can switch just those to Bloomberg?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

I realize this error message isn't very helpful, and something we plan to improve on. To figure out which investments aren't updated, try creating a Custom report with the field:

Latest price date

Create the report for your top-most sub-portfolio with no sub-totals, and list by investment. You can then sort this report by the "Latest price date" to quickly see which investments were not updated.

I'm not aware of any problem with Yahoo, but you can use your web browser to double check the symbols you're retrieving from Yahoo.
Thanks,
Mark
