Dividends on Short sales

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby AIM » Sun Oct 28, 2012 3:51 pm

Hi Mark,
How should I record dividends that were debited from an account which was short shares of stock? (e.g. Short 50 shares of AAP and on 7/6/12 $3.00 was debited from the account to pay the dividend to whomever lent the shares.) Noticed the discrepancy when trying to reconcile, FM had $3.00 more than the Statement.

Thanks.

Hi David,

You can record dividends for a negative amount. When using a default cash account, and you have a negative valued dividend, the money will be removed from your cash account.
Thanks,
Mark
