Dividend Election Shares

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby mcrews » Fri Jan 04, 2013 12:20 pm

Here's one I can't figure out:

I have twice now come up with optional dividend election shares for HBC & BP. These quasi rights securities don't have a stated value and convert to cash when the dividend is paid. In otherwords if I owned 100 shares of BP, I would receive 100 shares of BPA.C1 which convert a month+ later to cash and then BPA.C1 is gone.

How do I treat these w/ FM given that there price is $0.0 and I want to import transactions w/out manually having to adjust for them?

Thanks

Matthew

Hi Matthew,

You can't have a zero priced investment in Fund Manager. You could record them as a value equal to the dividend, and just sell them when you receive the dividend for these shares.
Thanks,
Mark
