Hi L Larson,
Maybe you are referring to the outdated QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) format? The OFX (Open Financial eXchange) files are the preferred method of transmitting financial data, and have essentially replaced the QIF format.

Hi L Larson,
Maybe you are referring to the outdated QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) format? The OFX (Open Financial eXchange) files are the preferred method of transmitting financial data, and have essentially replaced the QIF format.
This thread started out with a question very similar to what I am trying to accomplish. The downloaded data columns are identical to mine. Instead of IFs, I used Lookup tables to create FM data. Instead of editing the downloaded Fidelity data, in most cases, I created new columns. But basically we are on the same track.
I now have a csv file with the new columns and have a FILE > IMPORT > TRANSACTIONS > GENERIC that works...sort of. The file has 131 transactions with a dozen or so symbols, but FM only identifies 6 of the 131 to select for import. Even after importing only those 6, the xmldump.txt is not updated, so I haven't found a trail to follow. Those 6 appear to be imported correctly. The selection of those 6 appears to be random. For example, there were a number of BUY and SELL transactions for the symbol XLE, but for a single BUY or SELL order. The transactions were in partial fulfillment. FM import picked out one transaction on one day for XLE, and left all the other XLE transactions for all days. And the one picked out was not the first or last. Can you help please? Flummoxed. Mike
Hi Mike,
Maybe you can post a couple sample lines from your importing file, along with the format string you are using? I may be able to help spot the problem. Alternatively, you can email us the file, as an attachment, along with the format string. The xmldump.txt file is only created when importing an OFX formatted file, not a generic file.
