Unable to enter zero price value

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Paul King » Thu Aug 05, 2010 4:33 am

Hi - I am wondering how Fund manager deals with shares in companies that have gone in to liquidation?

For accounting purposes, the database needs to include the date and amount of the capital loss.

I cannot seem to enter a zero value as the price for shares in companies that have gone out of business - in effect any non zero value I use as the final value per hare ($0.01) is recorded as nominal realised income instead of a total loss.

Thanks

Hi Paul,

You can record a sell at a price of 0. If you don't record the sell, there will not be a realized loss on your capital gains report.
Thanks,
Mark
