Retrieving Prices

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Ivan » Fri Dec 10, 2010 3:06 pm

Two questions on retrieving prices...

1. When I select Edit/Internet Retrieve/Prices or Historical Prices I get the same dialog box labeled 'Historical Price Retrieve Dates,' requesting a date range. What is the difference, if any, between these functions?

2. I sometimes am a little early in the day in requesting a retrieve of today's prices. Is there any way to know whether all of today's prices have been successfully retrieved without looking through every investment?

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

1) The only difference between these 2 commands is which server you are retrieving from. You can set each one of them. You do this under "Options / Internet Settings...". Usually you leave one of the current quote servers set for the first one (PRC) and a historical server set for the second one (HST). It sounds like you have the historical server set for both of yours.

2) Not a real easy way... You could create a Custom report with the "Latest Price Date" field, and sort the report by that field.
Thanks,
Mark
