Unmatched Ending Tag Error

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby TR » Mon Dec 27, 2010 11:34 am

I'm trying out the Professional evaluation version and am having trouble importing .QFX files to get started. I've searched the Help function and the Forum for information on the "Unmatched Ending Tag Error" message but missed any mention of this particular error.

The error message pops up when trying to import investment data for a sub-portfolio on File:Import:Transactions:Open Financial Exchange (for OFX or QFX). After hitting "Next" once the "Import Open Financial Exchange Transactions" input screen is completed, a box briefly pops up that says "Reading File(s)..." which disappears and the "Unmatched Ending Tag Error" box pops up and no data is transferred. Is this a problem with the .QFX files that I downloaded and saved from my financial institution?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Hello TR,

This is a problem with the .QFX file. It is either corrupt, or somehow formatted incorrectly. A .QFX file is an XML formatted file, and should have matching closing "tags" for every opening one. That is an unusual error message, as it is not too common to run into that. I would suggest re-downloading your .QFX file, and seeing if that doesn't fix the problem. If you still have troubles, and would like us to take a look, you can email us the file, and we can see what the problem is.
Thanks,
Mark
