Missing Dividends from Yahoo (Historical)

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Good_Vibe » Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:15 pm

Dear Mark:

In April, 2010 Bernsteins Intermediate Taxable Bond fund (SNIDX) posted a $0.044 per share dividend (documented from my monthly statement). I also have this fund in a "study/comparison" portfolio to benchmark SNIDX against other bond funds of interest.

The April 2010 dividend for SNIDX is missing in the data from Yahoo (Historical) downloaded into the Professional (11.9) version of Fund Manager (Quote module 429; Transaction module 160).

I deleted all the data for SNIDX for 2010 from the "study" portfolio and downloaded it again this morning. Still no April 2010 SNIDX dividend.

Is there any other site from which I might obtain dividend data?

By the way, I have recently proven other dividend omissions from Yahoo (Historical). My concern is that missing dividend(s) makes analytical comparison among funds impossible. I detected this problem through study of Morningstar's calendar year total return (which differed in some cases from Fund Manager's TWR, ROI, Gain (between) for physical calendar year).

HELP!

Thanks, Phil

Hi Phil,

I too see that Yahoo's database does not have an April 2010 dividend. You can view their data with your web browser. For this case, see:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=SNIDX&a ... f=2012&g=v

Yahoo's server is the only one offering dividend data like this...
Thanks,
Mark

Mark:

Well, thanks for the confirmation. After finding that Fund Manager did not have the April 2010 dividend, I had logged onto Yahoo and confirmed via their historical price screen that they did not have it.

Really sucks that nobody else offers such data. This makes Fund Manager useless for comparison of alternative funds. Unfortunately, this is one of the main reasons I purchased it.

Fund Manager is nice for automating transactions, but that is pretty limited for my objective.

Thanks for the information. Phil
