Double import of generic transactions

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby fundman247 » Fri Nov 23, 2012 6:40 am

Hello Mark,

Could you please indicate why would FM import transactions that are already in an investment even if the block is ticked to skip transactions already in FM.

I am using vers 10. I am getting the same problem on vers 11.

This is what my gen import file looks like.
20121121 780 SELL 17992 0.04 1.080
20121121 780 SELL 18070 0.03 0.813
20121121 780 SELL 18135 0.04 1.088
20121121 780 SELL 18201 0.02 0.546

The investment are set that the fee will be % load while I supply the CNUM as the fee. The fee imports exactly in line with the % load.

What I find strange is that at times it would only import 3 of these 4 trades while all 4 are already in FM.

I hope you could pinpoint me to a possible solution.

Regards.

Hi fundman247,

Fund Manager only considers the transactions "already in Fund Manager" if all the fields match exactly out to 6 decimal places. You might do the import, and then turn up the share/price digit display to 6, so you can see how they differed. Somehow they are different than the transactions you already have in Fund Manager.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark thanks for the info.

I have found when I use the 0.15% load some values are different to when Excel calculates 0.15% and I do round it in Excel before I export it as text and import in FM. It could be this difference in actual values causing the import to be done while it is already there.

Regards.
