OOP cost of inherited shares

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Juergen » Sat Apr 20, 2013 5:04 pm

I wish to 'transfer in' inherited shares of KO into a portfolio but am unsure what to enter for OOP cost. Since the shares are inherited, there is really no OOP cost . So can I enter zero? Will this cause problems?
Thanks.

Hi Juergen,

It will cause no problem to enter 0, but any OOP calculations like Gain, will be optimistic, reflecting the fact that these cost you nothing. If you want to see the performance only of the shares, and not include the fact that these were inherited, then put the OOP cost at the market value when you received them.
Thanks,
Mark

Thank you, Mark.
That makes sense. I think I will use the value when received.
