Zero price for new investment

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby senior » Fri Aug 09, 2013 5:16 am

Hi,

I didn't find a way to solve the following:

I owned a bond that was repaid completely some days ago including interest for
2012. Interest for the first 7 months of 2013 is still open and shall be paid in
one year from now. Former bondholders received a certificate free of charge
granting payment of the outstanding 2013 interest.
How do I enter this certificate as an investment into FM when it cost me nothing?
When creating a new investment FM does not accept a zero price. The Bond is no
longer existing and the investment has been closed.

Greetings,

Hi Peter,

You can use the "New Investment..." dialog to create the investment, but just leave the price at 1 and shares at 0. Once you have the investment created, you can use the "Buy/Sell..." dialog to buy some shares at a cost of 0. I would suggest keeping the price fixed at 1, and just treat it like a cash investment, but your purchase could be at 0 for the appropriate number of shares.
Thanks,
Mark
