Generic Import MEMO field

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby elliots » Sun Dec 07, 2014 12:13 pm

Mark,

I've got a generic import file that works well except the MEMO field won't import. I've got MEMO in the format string (on the end, no delimiter after). I've tried adding text delimiters (" or ') to the field data and that doesn't help. I'm assuming the MEMO field is the field showing in the transaction list or report.

Hi Elliot,

If you have quotes in the data file, then you want quotes in the format string. The MEMO field is the transaction memo. If you are importing a CSV file, you might want to open it in Notepad instead of Excel, so you can see how the raw data is formatted.

If you want, you can post a sample line from your CSV file, and the format string you're using.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Sorry, false alarm. It actually did import the memo field; it just didn't show the memos on the preview screen before the actual import.
