Price Updates (Investment Data | Update Price | Multiple)

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby MerrittMarkA » Fri Feb 20, 2015 12:43 pm

I have a portfolio for which prices are not easily retrieved - a Prudential 401(k). I have to log on to the Prudential site, grab a daily pricing report and manually enter them.

I do this via right clicking on one of the investments, and selecting...

Investment Data | Update Price | Multiple Investments...

Once there, the dialog box does not list the investments in the sequence I would like them in. It does not appear to follow the sequence currently displayed, which would make sense.

Where can I modify this update sequence to match the sequence that Prudential uses? That would make the manual entry chore easier.

As a followup, is there any chance of getting an auto update for the portfolios at https://www.retirement.prudential.com?

These are a hodge podge of expense laden funds with no published CUSIPS or symbols that have defied my attempts to find any other pricing source.

Hi MerrittMarkA,

Those dialogs list your investments in the investment stack order. Use the top level "Investments" menu to sort the investment stack, or order it how you want. For example, using "Investments / Order..." allows you to set the investment stack order.

Also, we do support Prudential Retirement for the transaction retrieve feature. Have you tried retrieving from them? For tips on using this interface, see:

Thanks,

Apologies, I must be in ID10T mode. I cannot locate an "Investments" menu.

I see File, Edit, View, Graphs, Reports, Options, Portfolio, Window, and Help as top level menus.

I have glanced through each of these and see no path to "Investments | Order".

Regarding Prudential, I attempted to setup price retrieve when initially establishing this particular portfolio, but it did not recognize my credentials. It appears as if Prudential has more than one "Retirement" division.

I log on at this URL: https://ssologin.prudential.com/app/ret ... /Login.fcc

Hi MerrittMarkA,

Sorry, I should have mentioned you need to be in either a Graph or Report window to see the top level Investments menu. I think you're in the Portfolio Editor window now.

It is quite possible that maybe your plan somehow isn't available on their OFX server. You might call them up, and ask how to retrieve data for your plan into Quicken, as Fund Manager and Quicken both use the same OFX interface. They may be able to give you some more information, like to confirm your plan isn't available there, or maybe you can have them enable it somehow.
Thanks,
Mark

Excellent, that little problem is done & dusted. Thank you.

Perhaps the Investment Menu belongs at the top rather than as a child of Reports or Graphs?

Re: Prudential, they are a nightmare. I can download transaction data once logged in, but I have struck out with all attempts at automating pricing queries. Clearly, you've got one server sorted, but they've got their employer sponsored savings plans somewhere else, and they like them hidden away and obfuscated they way they are.

Cheers,
Mark
