Total Newbie: ADR question

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby im2hyped » Tue Mar 24, 2015 1:01 pm

I am really new to investing. Dabbled in and out with no knowledge until last year. Anyhow, I am trying to get these things under control and understand what I've done. I have imported all of my csv files since 2007 and have an entry I'm not sure how to record.

In the memo it says: GPCBY: ADR Termin. Funds Rcvd $1.4885 and it zero'd out my shares (-1.3656). Under the investment I listed it as a Transfer Out which I don't think is correct. Also, it didn't put an entry in my cash account so I did as a Distribution / Other for 2.03. I'm thinking this is not correct either.

Any guidance you can give would be great! Thank you for your help.

Hi im2hyped,

If you had some shares of this investment, and then afterwards you didn't, then this would be either a sell or transfer out. Since it looks like you received some money, a sell would be more appropriate. You might want to contact your broker for clarification on what exactly happened. If you lost shares, and got some money, record this as a sell. Transfer Out transactions just move the shares, there is no money received for a transfer out. A sell however, does receive the specified amount of cash.
Thanks,
Mark

Perfect. I will record it as a sell and bring it down to zero shares. Thank you Mark. I appreciate your time.
