Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby mastergruppod » Fri May 08, 2015 7:18 am

Hi Mark,
I have built a portfolio using this software. Now I want to do a comparison between the portfolio value and the MSCI World Index (thicker: MXWO), but in Index folder it doesn't appear. I'd like to know how I can put the index in the sub-portfolio. In particular I need information about the price, shares and the symbol. Thank you, Marco.

Hi mastergruppod,

We have a FAQ item on this here:

In general, to compare to an index, you need to create an investment for that index. You look up the symbol on whatever quote server you're using to retrieve prices. Each quote server uses slightly different symbols for indices. For example, on Yahoo, I believe the symbol you're looking for is: XWD.TO. You can see this here:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=XWD.TO
Thanks,
Mark
