Mkt Value/Shares option for individual investments?

Is there a way to use the new price update based on market price/shares for just a single asset? I would like to try this out to get the correct value for TIPS without turning it on for everything.

Sorry, no. You can do it for only a single account, by only retrieving transactions for that single account, while having that option set. If you don't like the results, you can just retrieve prices, or exit without saving.
