Download Sale TX - Specific Lot

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby hipped1 » Wed Nov 18, 2015 2:00 pm

I am downloading transactions from my brokerage account and am using Specific Lot ID for tax calculations, for each investment in the portfolio.

It appears that when I download sale transactions for the portfolio, the posting routine doesn't have the option to assign (or ask for) the specific lot id in the process. In essence the sale does not have a lot associated with it.

The process to find these unassigned lots seems somewhat cumbersome. After the download, I run the capital gains report and look for any transactions containing N/A in the calculations. I then open the register for that security and assign the specific lot.

Is there a more efficient process to accomplish this in the current version of the software?

If not, an enhancement request would be to have the specific lot assigned in the transaction download or posting process.

Hi hipped1,

When using Specific Lot you need to specify every sell transaction. You can get to the "Specify Lots" dialog in a variety of ways, but it isn't available during the transaction retrieve process. You can right mouse click on the investment and choose "Investment Data / Specify Lots...". If you have a lot of sale transactions, and don't remember where they all were, you could run an Investment Transaction report, and only show Sell transactions for the date range you just retrieved transactions for.
Thanks,
Mark
