Hi Mark,
I would like to set an automatic retrieve of quotes twice a day, at 12:30PM and 10:30PM Is it possible? I don't know how to set the Automatic Retrieve Frequency options to achieve this. Thanks.
Hi Djobydjoba,
The automatic retrieve frequency feature inside FM is based on elapsed minutes, so making it retrieve at exact times is difficult. You could however use the command line arguments to initiate a retrieve. You could set up scheduled tasks in Windows Task Scheduler to do this. See: https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/hel ... mline.html
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply. Just to understand how the options work, if "Every 600 minutes" is set, with a range "from 12:00:00 to 23:00:00", can we have an precise idea of the time when the Automatic retrieves will start? Will they start precisely at 12:00:00 then 600 minutes later at 22:00:00 ? Or will they start always 600 minutes later the last automatic attempt, and if the current time is not in the "from... until" range 600 minutes more are elapsed until the current time is in the range?
Hi Djobydjoba,
The timer starts from the last time you perform a retrieve. So, if you have every 600 minutes, it will wait 600 minutes from the last time you did a retrieve, or from the time you started the program. After the 600 minutes has elapsed, it will do a retrieve only if you are within the time period you've specified. If not, it will wait until you are, and do one right when you enter that time window. The timer will be reset at that point, and do another in 600 minutes, as long as that point is still within the allowed time window.
Thanks again for your reply, perfectly clear.
I've tried the command line argument (/I) as suggested. Unfortunately it seems it doesn't work when Fund Manager is already launched (Fund Manager is opened most of the time on my computer). Killing the process FM.exe before launching the command line (in a batch file executed with a scheduled task) is not a nice way to do. Perhaps if I check the option "Allow multiple program instances" this would allow the /I command? But is it a good thing to retrieve prices in an other instance of Fund Manager? Could there be negative effects in the main instance?
Hi Djobydjoba,
I wouldn't suggest using multiple instances here. It can cause problems, in that the already running instance keeps the data files in memory. If the files on the hard drive get updated by another instance, the already running copy won't know about that, and it may overwrite them if there are changes that need to be saved.
Understood. May I suggest that the /I argument launch a price retrieval even if Fund Manager is already opened?
Hi Djobydjoba,
Okay, thanks for the idea/feedback.
Hi divinest,
Sorry, you can't do this. Unfortunately this isn't supported.
