Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby kkn » Tue Jul 23, 2019 9:00 am

Hi!
Lately I have had problems retrieving prices from the Danish stockmarket. I have used Morningstar Funds/Stocks or Yahoo UK & Ireland for some years, but both now often do not retrieve the latest prices. Is there an explanation and/or a solution for this? There is no message about "could not update etc." - the actual date with the actual prices simply does not appear on some of the investments.

Hi kkn,

If you look under "Help / Logs / Price Retrieve..." it will show what symbols were updated, and for what date. It may be that the price is being updated again for a date you already had a price. If that is the case, use your web browser to go see if the quote server has a current quote, or maybe it is not being updated in a timely manner on the server.
Thanks,
Mark

Thank you for a very quick answer. It seems that Morningstar and Yahoo are not updating all the prices from the Danish stockmarket like they used to. The prices from those serves are not the same as the prices in the stockmarket (http://www.nasdaqomxnordic.com) and in my bank - those two last places show identical prices.

Hi, maybe you could give some examples of prices you're looking for?

Hi!
Nordea Invest Global Stars on 23th of July: 112,10 on Nasdaq and in my bank.
In Fund Manager:
Morningstar Stocks latest: 22th of July: 111,49, Yahoo Alternate says: 109 on 21th of July. Yahoo UK&Ireland does not update.
By the way I have asked Nasdaq if there is a problem.
Thank you for your interest in this!

I'm not sure to be very helpful on this...
Yes, for this fund it seems there is a little discrepancy on the NAV between the websites. Weird, but is this really an issue? The historical prices are still available, so still not too bad...
For example available on FT (1 month of historical prices, prices provided by Morningstar).

I can of course find the prices manually, but the great thing about Fund Manager used to be the possibility to automate the process, so i do not have to check manually all the prices, I want to follow.
Anyway, thank you for your interest and time!

You could still use the FT quote server to automatically retrieve historical prices for this fund :

Maybe I am not skilled enough - I cannot find FT as a quote-server in Fund Manager.

I think that I cannot see FT in FM because my version is 2016 and FT requires 2018.

I will get the new version, but I will not be able to use the command line option, as I am used to, I think, because a historical server requires you to tell FM the dates, for which you want the prices.

Hi Knud,

You can still use the command line interface with the "Financial Times - Funds (1M Historical)" server, as that server does not prompt for a date range. It always just gets prices for the last 1 month. For more on this server, see:
