Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager
by CMB » Fri Dec 30, 2022 7:46 pm
Hi Mark,
Trying to download the last update in Fund Manager has failed. I keep getting the following errors:
"Unable to open the file for write permissions inteng14x.dll"
"The processes cannot access the files because it is being used by another process"
"Bad crc check for INTENG14X.DLL download"
Fix? Tried rebooting and updating. Same problem.
Prof VersionL 2022.17.4.100, Quote Module 576, Transaction Module 258
Thanks,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
Are you using "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates..."?
In what folder do you have Fund Manager installed? I'm wondering if maybe you have it installed to a folder being actively synced, so maybe it is in conflict with the syncing program, something like OneDrive...

Yes, that is how I am trying to update.
It is installed in the default folder. C:Program Files (x86)\Fund Manager.
Thanks,
Carolyn

Mark,
Not syncing with One Drive. I did get a new hard drive within the last couple of months. Fund Managers downloads from Chas Schwab & price retrieval has been working fine.
Is there something I should let my IT Company know about the updates? Setup or permissions?
Thanks,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
You need to be an Admin user on your PC in order to write into the Program Files folder. Are you an Admin? Maybe you are only a Standard User?

I should be. I am the only user. Whatever ideas you have as what might be the problem I will let my IT Company know and then we will troubleshoot it. Thanks.
Happy New Year!

Hi CMB,
It sounds just like either that file is in use, or you don't have permissions to install into the Program Files folder. Typically that file won't be in use, unless you are retrieving prices at the time.
