Option Transactions

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby Ilikemybu » Wed Jul 31, 2024 7:18 am

Mark,
I continue to have issues downloading transactions for options. In this scenario, I sold a call, (the transaction was for 1 lot), but when it expired, the transaction comes in as 100 shares (Schwab)

thx,
Dave

Hi Dave,

What transaction module are you using? If you’re using the latest, please email me the transaction retrieve log (Help / Logs / Transaction Retrieve…) right after you retrieve this account. Please also tell me the specifics of the particular transaction in question, and I’ll investigate.
Thanks,
Mark

I'm using the most up to date module.
Should I re-retrieve the transactions (back to the original purchase?)

thx
Dave

Hi Dave,

You can just retrieve for the date of the one transaction in question (or maybe a day or 2 before and after, just so long as it includes the transaction), and then "Cancel" at the "Preview Importing Transactions" step. At that point you will have a log file (Help / Logs / Transaction Retrieve…) containing that transaction. Please send me the log file, and specifics on that particular transaction.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I sold a call (covered) for JPM on 3/22 (downloaded as 100)
It expired on 7/19 (it actually was exercised) (downloaded as 1)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the log/info. I tested this with FM 2024.18.4, and the 7/19 OPTIONEXPIRATION correctly imported as 100 shares. What version of the main program are you using? See "Help / About...".
Thanks,
Mark

And, can you still reproduce this now with 2024.18.4? If you retrieve transactions for that date, and turn off "Skip Transactions Already in FM" so that it appears in the "Preview Importing Transactions" dialog, does it show up with a share quantity of 1 or 100?

Press Cancel to avoid actually importing.

If you can still reproduce it with 2024.18.4, please give me a call at 480-705-0129.
Thanks,
Mark

Well I re-retrieved transactions as you suggested, (went back to the original sell of the option). In reviewing the list, both the sell and the expire were for 100 shares, so I'm not sure what happened, but looks right now.
Sorry to take you down a rabbit hole!

Hi Ilikemybu,

Okay, great, glad it is working now. We had made some changes in this area from prior versions, so maybe you initially retrieved with an older version, causing the confusion.
Thanks,
Mark
