FundManager is an amazing program. I have a small request.

When dividends are reinvested in a stock, the stock balance increases fractionally. But the fractional change in FundManager does not always exactly match the change in the brokerage account. Therefore, when a user closes a stock by selling all shares in a brokerage account, FundManager may still show some small fraction of shares remaining.

It would be nice if there was some facility to set the stock balance to zero on a specific day, so that the stock would be completely closed. This can already be partly done by using Transfer In/Out. But that requires some fiddling.

More generally, it might be nice to be able to set the stock balance on a specific day to any desired value to adjust for the small differences between FundManager and the brokerage monthly statement that are often rounds numbers.

Thanks,
Steven_M

Hi Steven_M,

The shares owned at any point is determined by all your recorded transactions up to that date. To avoid this issue, make sure you are recording your transactions accurately. This means recording the value and shares exactly as reported by your broker, so the two match exactly. Any rounding errors should be going into the price field, not the value or shares, as those should be exact. This will prevent any issues when you sell all the shares. For some tips on how to record transactions accurately (no rounding of value/shares), see this:
