I have the following questions/comments.
1. ‘Franklin Templeton’ mutual fund Company is not listed in the Transactions that can be retrieved thru Fund Manager. Can it be added to the list? The fund company website states that its transactions can be imported into Quicken/MS Money.
2. When 2 or more different mutual funds from different companies are in a sub portfolio (i.e. grouped by Growth Funds, or Int’l Funds, etc), how can transactions for individual funds be imported in the sub portfolio as acct numbers/passwords/user ID are different for each fund. Similar to Prices that can be imported for individual funds in the sub portfolio.
3. TD Ameritrade, and I guess Fidelity and other brokers list reinvested dividends as purchases when importing the transactions. This may affect the ROI, etc. In the ‘Buy/Sell’ transaction input screen, can another choice ‘Reinvest’ be added? Then it will be easier to edit the imported transaction for Purchase into Reinvest.

Hello ketu11,

1) In order to be able to "retrieve", they must offer an Open Financial Exchange server. I suspect they are offering a download on their website, which can then be imported. Whatever the instructions are for importing into MS Money, you can do the same in Fund Manager. Most likely, you are downloading a .OFX file, which you can import using "File / Import / Transactions / Open Financial Exchange (*.OFX)...".

For more on adding a new broker/fund company to our list that support retrieving transactions, please read:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq_broker_support.php

2) I would suggest grouping them into sub-portfolios by account number for importing/retrieving transaction purposes. You can then also group them in other sub-portfolios by Growth, etc.... The same investment file can be located in multiple sub-portfolios. Just use the Portfolio Editor and drag/drop them from one to the other. When you do the drag/drop, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard. You will see the cursor change to have a little plus "+" sign. This means you are copying, instead of moving, the selected items.

3) Yes, some brokers report reinvested dividends as 2 transactions, a dividend and then a purchase. This is equivalent to recording it as a single reinvested distribution. Fund Manager records transactions as reported by the broker. There will be no difference in the ROI or other performance metrics between these 2 cases.

In these cases there is no certain way to associate a particular purchase with a distribution. This isn't specified in the retrieved data. Fund Manager could take some educated guesses by looking for matching dates and dollar amounts of the purchase/dividend. Maybe we could add an option where you could have Fund Manager try to do this, and convert your purchase/dividend transaction pairs into a single reinvestment. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi ketu11,

I just checked on Franklin Templeton, and it does appear they have a new Open Financial Exchange Server. We'll see about getting support added for them now.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi ketu11,

We just released version 124 of the transaction retrieve module. This update adds support for Franklin Templeton. Please use "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...".
Thanks,
Mark
