Mark,

I can't get the graph -- I just get an empty grid with both x and y axis ranges of 0-1.00. Focus on a sub-portfolio. Tried Investments and Goals. I reset the date range to 2 years (that's basically all the data I have).

Hi Elliot,

This means that for some reason either the TWR or Standard Deviation couldn't be calculated. You can confirm by creating a Custom report with Time-weighted return 2 years and Standard Deviation of Returns (ending) and listing by asset type. Make sure your comparison period for your graph (Graph / Options / Risk/Reward Options...) is the same as your TWR period and Standard Deviation of Returns period, which uses the benchmark comparison period set from within a report window at (Options / Report Preferences / Benchmark / Comparison Period).

If one of them is reporting as N/A you can turn on logging to figure out why. If it is TWR, see: Options / General Preferences... / Yields / Log Calculations for TWR Yields. If it is Standard Deviation, you have to enable logging via the registry. This is from the online help:

Fund Manager can output the data points used in this calculation to a log file. By default the logging feature is turned off. To turn it on, create a new registry string value at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager\CurrentVersion\techanal

named "stddevretlog" and set it to a value of "1". The log file is named "stddevret_log.txt", and will be located in your Application Data\Fund Manager folder. The most recent object's standard deviation of returns calculation details are written to this log file.

One common problem is if your value goes to 0 at any point, the TWR cannot be calculated.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

The log showed that the problem was the standard deviation. I had the yield interpolation range set too tight -- there was a spot in the date range where it couldn't get a price even though I had full pricing over the time period.
