Geography / Style Tagging...?

Comments, critical feedback, praise, or suggestions for new features.

When searching for information as to whether FM can be used to allocate an investment across geographies I found a couple of earlier postings requesting a feature that would be ideal dating back a few years:-

Did anything become of these ideas - is there any way to track geographic as well as asset type allocation?

I've only just begun to use the evaluation copy, and I don't understand how 'investment goal' differs from Asset type - it just looks like another form of allocation (with a rather confusing name - in what sense is it a goal?). Couldn't I put geographic labels on the 'goals' and use it to track allocation by geography?

Hi paulbandler,

Yes, you can.

Fund Manager has 2 sets of categories, they are called "Asset Type" and "Investment Goal", but really you can use them for anything. They are just categories, and you can set their labels under "Options / Category Labels...". You assign each investment to these 2 sets of categories under "Investment Properties". Once you do this, you can graph, report by this information. So, yes, you can definitely use them for keeping track of geography. You have 2 sets of these categories, and can use them however you want.
Thanks,
Mark
