... so yesterday I experienced my first hard disk crash ever. Never saw it coming, but when it happened I was dead in the water. Remarkable how dependent we've become on these machines.
This is feedback on how well the backup and restore function works in Fund Manager. (Word to the wise: Do your backups regularly and keep them offsite. Mine are kept in the cloud, accessible from any computer with an internet connection.)
First I downloaded the latest version of FM, and applied the necessary licensing information. (Another word to the wise: Keep your license data for all software in a place that's easily accessible. I keep mine in an appropriately labeled email folder.)
Then I downloaded my most recent backup, un-encrypted it, and let FM do its thing. And what a beautiful thing it was. Everything restored properly in no time at all and I was up and running before I knew it.
Experiencing an unexpected computer problem was stressful, especially with how much of my "life" is stored in bits and bytes. But here I am, less than 24 hours later, with a new computer (always a cool thing) and my life is almost back together again (still missing a few photos from Picasa, but will have to look deeper at old backups to see if I can recover). Nice work, Mark, on this software.
