Seperate "symbol" field for asset / sector data retrieve?

Comments, critical feedback, praise, or suggestions for new features.

Hello Mark,

I do not believe this is currently available in FM. I have some investments that are not publicly traded, however, their asset and sector can be approximated with publicly available securities. This information would be helpful to manage the overall portfolio but is tedious to enter manually.

Is there a way to specify a ticker symbol for retrieval purposes separate from the "symbol" in the security's properties?

(I suppose the work-around is to change the security's symbol to match the proxy, but then the transaction data I import would have to be altered to accommodate this. I am not sure I like the unintended consequences aspect of this path)

Thanks for considering.

Hi Jason,

You're right it isn't a feature today. There is only 1 symbol field. You could do the work-around you mentioned if you're not using the symbol for anything else. If you are "retrieving" transactions, that utilizes the CUSIP, and not the symbol. If you're "importing" transactions, that usually does use the symbol, but depends on the import source. The "Generic" transaction import uses the symbol.
Thanks,
Mark

You are correct, I am importing the transactions using the Generic option so that means I would need to manipulate the import file. Thanks for considering the request against the others.

I purchased Fund Manager just before the current major release; is there a major release schedule or an ETA on the next one?

Hi Jason,

We don't have a published release date. I am estimating that we will come out with Fund Manager 2016 late this year as our next major update.
Thanks,
Mark
