Hi Mark,
Maintaining the investment database in FM represents a significant amount of work. For example, there are frequently changes in ETFs and mutual funds from issuers: name changes, merger or absorption or dissolution, splits... If you want to maintain categories /sectors or another custom property it can be a significant manual work too: find the info on the internet and update the investment. Quite often you have to fix price download problems too, find another quote server. So, a lot of searches on the internet. Often you have to import prices and transactions manually too. You may want to take somewhere some notes about an investment. Etc.
These operations (searches on the net, find appropriate quote server, import data, take some related notes...) requires recurrently one of this 3 fields: investment name, investment symbol or investment CUSIP/ISIN.
But having to open the investment Properties dialog, copy the content of the desired field, then close the Properties dialog is a bit tedious. A direct sub menu in the context menu of the investment that would offer to copy in the clipboard the needed field content among investment name, symbol, or CUSIP/ISIN, would be useful. We'd be quicker and more efficient in doing many of the operations mentioned above, without having to open the Properties dialog, copy the field content and close it, each time.
Thanks.
