Historical Cost/Price Graph

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager graphs.

Postby Ivan » Mon Jul 15, 2013 4:09 pm

I am confused about the meaning of the Historical Cost/Price graph. I thought the green line would represent the cumulative cost basis per share of the shares purchased up to that time. But as you can see from the attached screenshot, the value tends to rise with time and becomes much higher that the cost of any purchases. The Current Cost/Price graph seems to operate as I expect.

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Please read the documentation on this calculation here:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/help ... price.html

That historical cost line is your break-even point if you want to break even for all the buys/sells over the life of that investment. You might try doing the calculation for the beginning of that line. You're basically adding up all the money you paid, subtracting all the money you received, and dividing by the number of shares to get the historical cost per share.
Thanks,
Mark
