Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Hi Mark,
I've started to have a problem retrieving quotes for Canadian sub-indecies in the last little while. Some symbol examples are ^GSPTTMT (S&P/TSX Capped Materials) ^GSPTTCS (S&P/TSX Capped Consumer Staples) ^GSPTTUT (S&P/TSX Capped Utilities). There are several more. I use the Yahoo quote server and Quote Module V443. I am running FM Personal V12.4. If I go to Yahoo's Financial web site and enter these symbols, the correct quotes are returned, but if I try to retrieve them through FM, I get a message saying that the quote was retrieved, but upon checking for the current day's price, it is not there. I also am having a problem retrieving historical quotes for these symbols.
Thanx, Sheldon

Hi Sheldon,
I too see this with the sample ticker ^GSPTTMT. If you go to Yahoo, look up this quote, and then look in the lower/right near "Toolbox" there is a link to "Download Data (delayed)". This is what FM is retrieving, and that quote is dated 7/26/2013. It appears to not be updating promptly for some reason.
Also, if you click on "Historical Prices", there are none available for this index.
I would suggest trying to look up the symbol for this index on Bloomberg, and then switch these investments to retrieve from that server instead.

Hi Mark, Thanx for replying. I followed your suggestion and tried Bloomberg. However, the only Canadian sub-indecies that it supplies are the TSX and the TSX60, not really useful to me. I thought that I would try the TSX's own website, and was very pleasantly surprised to find all the info that I am interested in there. Not only do they offer stock quotes, but also all the sub-indecies and mutual fund quotes including historical qoutes. Perhaps it could be a new quote server? The website URL is http://www.tmxmoney.com/en/index.htmlThanx, Sheldon

Hi Sheldon, If a server does offer quotes not available on any other supported server we can consider adding it. Did you check on some of the other existing quote servers, like maybe Canada Stockwatch or Google? You can find information and links to all the supported servers here: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/intrtv.html

Hi Mark,
Thanx for your suggestions. I was able to successfuly retrieve the problematic quotes using Canada Stockwatch.
I've been spending a considerable amount of time on the TSX website and was amazed at some of the info available there. One advantage that it has over Canada Stockwatch is that it offers unlimited historical prices, while Canada Stockwatch only offers thirty days. But the website offers a whole lot more useful info, such as Canadian and US stock quotes, mutual fund quotes, Canadian and US Index quotes, commodities & futures covering agriculture, currencies, precious metals and energy, Canadian derivatives, Canadian Bonds and Canadian ETF's. All of this info is available to the public at no charge.
Perhaps you may find it worthy of consideration as an additional quote server for Fund Manager.
Thanx, Sheldon

Hi Sheldon,
Thanks for the information. That does sound like it would be a nice quote server to add.
