Cash Account and OOP Historical Gain

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hello, I hope you can help me solve a problem. I have set up a cash account under my portfolio in which I keep the cash from deposits, stock sales, etc.. As such every time I enter a transaction it is always with a share value of $1. Also, when I withdraw money from the account it is booked as a sale with a share value of $1. In other words, I never incur a gain or a loss in share value in the account. Only the amount of shares fluctuates as I flow cash in or out.

The problem I face is that Fund Manager shows at this time a loss in the OOP Historical Gain column that is the difference between the current value and an OOP Historical Basis value, I have no clue where it comes from. I would like to show no gain or loss for this account since the share value is always $1. Is there any way that Fund Manager could show no gain or loss for this account?

Hi Mario,

Do you maybe have an account fee or some other negative distribution recorded? This figure will be affected by anything that adjusts your Out Of Pocket cost in that investment. This includes buys/sells, but it also includes any distributed distributions.

If you can't find it by looking at all your transactions in the Data Register (use "All Transactions" data type), you can create a Custom report, and add these OOP basis/gain fields to your report. Change the ending report date until you determine the date you first start seeing a non-zero gain/loss. This will help you identify the problematic transaction(s).

Thank you Mark, you hit the problem on the first try. Account fees, etc. are causing the issue.
