Adding Cash account

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark

I had a sub portfolio which included only my EMP share purchases. There were no dividends so i had not created an associated cash account. Then they started paying dividends and i entered all the dividends but then realized that i don't have a cash account - so where did the money go in FM ?
Can i now add cash account and be able to show balance equivalent to total dividends?

thanks

Hi sponge,

The money went out of your account. It is like they sent you a check for those dividends. Yes, you can create the cash account now. Creating the cash investment and assigning it to be your default cash account will not however retroactively cause those recorded dividends to be deposited into this new investment. You can manually add buy transactions in the cash account for the dividend amounts/dates. Any new transactions you record while the cash account is assigned will automatically be recorded in the cash account.
Thanks,
Mark
