Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby zeebb » Thu Nov 07, 2013 8:54 am

Is there any way to direct the program to obtain pricing of stocks from different stock exchanges? I hold stocks in both US and Canada. The Symbol for a stock in the US will often be used by the Toronto Stock Exchange for a different company. When I update the prices on the internet, it uses the US stock prices.
Thanks!

Hi zeebb,

Yes, you can use any of our supported servers. The list is here:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/intrtv.html

You can set the servers globally, and then also override on a per-investment basis. See "Options / Internet Settings..." for the global settings, and "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve" to override on a per-investment basis.

However, using the default server of Yahoo you can direct whether you get the US or Canadian exchange quote. You need to use the symbol as used by Yahoo. For Yahoo they use a 2 letter suffix on the symbol after a period to specify the exchange. So, for example to get a quote from the Toronto Stock Exchange, the symbol would need to end in:

.TO

Use your web browser, and visit Yahoo's site to browse and figure out the symbols you need. Then, edit the symbol in Fund Manager under "Investment Properties... / General".
Thanks,
Mark
