Hi Mark,

Congrats for the new release of Fund Manager and the work done. Really appreciate the new "Create Investment from Investments" feature, with the ability to do analysis on the relative strength. I have to test it now.

A new release is the moment for me to rethink my organization and workflows in Fund Manager. Maintaining a database up to date can be a pain work when one of the goals is to use FM as a screener for funds and equities. I really appreciate too the retrieval of sectors and asset type infos with MorningStar and Yahoo. I don't use these infos, and here in Europe the downloaded infos don't often match, but this is another step in a good direction. Hope this will be extended to others infos in the future, and to... Morningstar Categories.

I had already posted about a need for more slots for categories (more than 100) and some others ideas about categories here : viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2516. I want to be a little more specific here about Morningstar Categories. These are used intensively in Europe by many financial actors and web sites for funds and ETF classification and rating .

Here's the UK list of Morningstar Categories : http://tools.morningstar.co.uk/uk/funds ... fault.aspx. Look at the menu "MorningStar Categories". A similar list in the French site (in French of course), which I am interested in. I haven't count the number of entries, more than 200. This is the main info I want to focus on and maintain in my database to navigate through the funds and ETF.

But :

- I run out of slots to manage all these categories.
- Even in the new version, inability to sort labels alphabetically.. Hope you could add a button to sort automatically in the Category Labels window for the final release. I wouldn't sort by hand 100 entries..
- Looking for a process to update the categories assignments more efficiently, less manually.

So this is a feedback, and if you have some thoughts on it..

Thanks.

Hi Djobydjoba,

Thanks for the feedback on the beta. I'm sorry we weren't able to implement all of your requests. There is now the ability to sort the categories. Adding the ability to automatically do this for you should now be a relatively small extension. I don't anticipate we will be making any feature additions between the beta and the official release though. We want to focus on just getting all the current improvements thoroughly tested first.

There were several improvements to help when manually assigning categories to your investments. I understand the best case is to automatically retrieve this information, but if you have any ideas on how we can make the manual assignment easier, please let me know.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Djobydjoba,

We have added the ability to sort the categories labels alphabetically for the next FM 2014 release. To use this new feature you can right mouse click on the list of asset types, goals, or sectors, and choose "Sort Alphabetically" from the popup menu.
Thanks,
Mark
