Real-time Yahoo not functioning FM8.10 Professional

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Quote Module 401, Tranact Module 127

Mark,

This suddenly stopped working. (Was fine last week)

Yahoo (regular) and Yahoo ASZ & NZ are delayed to market. I have missed vital alerts due to this today.

eg: price has long gone through alert in online trading platform and price is not updated (by a manual retrieve)- seems to be up to 5 mins?

I saw in another post that Yahoo realtime may have changed. Does it still work in FM8.10 Professional? Normally I'm not too fussed, but the market is volatile at the moment and I need it to alert me ASAP!

thanks,
Daryl

Hi Daryl,

Is Yahoo (Real-Time) in module 401 not retrieving at all, or do the prices retrieved seem delayed?

If you look on Yahoo with your browser, and look up a quote, there is a "Summary" and "Real-Time ECN" selection. If you use the regular "Yahoo" server, you are getting the same data as shown in the "Summary". If you use the 'Yahoo (Real-Time)", then you are getting the Real-Time ECN quote. This is how module 401 is working.

In the prior 390 module, the Yahoo (Real-Time) was essentially getting the same data as the "Summary" is now showing. It had ceased showing real time data. In 401 this server has been updated to use the new Real-Time ECN quotes.
Thanks,
Mark

It doesn't work at all with Yahoo Real-time server selected.

If I try looking up OZL.AX (Oz Miner) manually on the ECN website. It returns the Stock name, but the fields are blank.

Not sure why.

Hi Daryl,

Yahoo doesn't have Real-Time ECN data for this quote, so Fund Manager won't be able to get this quote using Yahoo (Real-Time) in module 401. To get the equivalent to what you were previously getting with Yahoo (Real-Time) under 390, use the regular "Yahoo" server.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I'm a little confused about which server will give me the real-time data for ASX?

You say the 'Yahoo' server, but I have tried this and the server 'Yahoo ASX & NZ' but they both appear delayed.

How can I tell?

Thanks,
Daryl

Hi Daryl,

Unfortunately, I don't believe Yahoo offers real-time quotes for ASX... I think you can only get delayed quotes for these. If you see anywhere on Yahoo where you're able to see real-time ASX quotes using your web browser please let me know.

The quotes you were getting before using "Yahoo (Real-Time)" with quote module 390 are the same quotes you can get using "Yahoo" with module 401.

If you'd like, you can experiment with the 2 different modules (390 and 401). If you download and install 8.10 off our website, it currently has module 390 in it right now. You can save the "inteng8x.dll" file in your Fund Manager folder. This is the 390 module, and when you do an update "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates", you'll get the new 401 module. It is the same filename, and you can switch this file in/out to experiment with the retrieves using each module.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Thank you for following up. Yeah, unfortunately all other Yahoo ASX quotes are 20min delayed.

I can access Real-time quotes from my brokers, so I wonder if you might ever consider giving FM Professional users the ablilty to define a custom quote scrape from a secure site?

That way I could still use your product to retrieve real-time quotes while logged into my broker site.
Not sure if this is feasible?

Thanks,
Daryl

Hi Daryl,

A generic custom quote scrape that is defined by the user will be difficult. If there was some sort of standard, that would be much easier.
Thanks,
Mark
