Transaction retrieval stopped working

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby lh2014 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 1:57 pm

My transaction retrieval stopped working when I upgraded the quote module to 429 2 weeks ago. (I don't remember what version I had before). My current transaction module is 158. I also upgraded to the latest ii.9 version I'm licensed for but transaction retrievals still don't work. Price retrievals do work.

Hi lh2014,

The latest transaction module is 198. Please make sure you're using transaction module 198. If you still have a problem, please let me know what the error message says. If you are using a version before 12.x you will need to upgrade in order to get the latest transaction module.
Thanks,
Mark

Sorry for the fat finger, I'm at version 11.9. So you're saying I need to upgrade to 12.x to get transaction retrieval to work again? Alright, I can give that a try. Thanks

Hi lh2014,

The current version is 2014, so yes, you need to upgrade to 2014. Let us know if that doesn't resolve the transaction retrieval issue.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi, I finally got around to upgrading to 2014 version with transaction module 198, but my Charles Schwab accounts are still not updating. My Scottrade account did though. Anything specific to Schwab that would be the issue?

Hi lh2014,

Is the error you're getting a signon error, or some other error?

If you are receiving an invalid logon message when retrieving transactions or positions from Charles Schwab, please check that your password is not longer than 8 characters. If your password is longer than 8 characters, try entering only the first 8 characters.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi lh2014,

Is there some other error message before the "Failed to retrieve..." message?
Thanks,
Mark

There is the initial "Current Status: Account Info (Charles Schwab xxxx) [Analyzing Response]" window, then the Failed to Retrieve window immediately pops up

Hi lh2014,

Please try updating to the latest transaction module using "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...". Also, try erasing your account number from the properties of your sub-portfolio for this account. Retrieve again, and if you still get the same error, please email us the log files:

ofxpost.txt
ofxretr.txt
xmldump.txt

which will be located here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Fund Manager
Thanks,

I don't have that folder and couldn't find any files with those names. Also, the check of updates function returns an error screen WSAE 12029. I'm running Windows XP

Hi lh2014,

Sorry, that path was for Windows Vista or later. Since you are getting 12029 that usually means you have a firewall program blocking FM's ability to access the internet. This would also prevent your ability to update prices/transactions. Please see if you can tell your firewall program that FM has permission to access the internet, and try the "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates..." again, and see if it can't complete without error.
Thanks,
Mark

No fw being used, in fact the old version 11.9 can at least do the check for updates without a problem, but neither can do the trans update. I had installed the 2014 version in a new subdir, so I went back and installed over top of the old one, still no luck!

Hi lh2014,

So you're still getting a 12029 error when you do a "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates..." using Fund Manager 2014? Are you sure you don't have any firewall or antivirus type program running? The 12029 error is usually due to some program like this blocking FM's access to the internet.
Thanks,
Mark
