Reused symbol conflating two investments

Washington Mutual disappeared some years ago. Now Waste Management Inc. trades under the symbol WM once used by WaMu. In Fund Manager, historic activity for WaMu is combined with current activity for Waste Management. What is the best way to separate the two investments and their activity?

If it matters, I am downloading transaction data via OFX from my brokerage firm.

Hi David,

Put them in two separate investments.

For the old Washington Mutual, give it a unique symbol and leave the CUSIP blank. Turn off "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve / Retrieve Price" for this investment.

For the new Waste Management, set the symbol and CUSIP correctly as they are today. For price retrieval, the symbol is used. For transaction retrieval the CUSIP is used. You can use the Data Register to move transactions from one investment to another via copy/paste.
