% Change in portfolio editor

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Hi Mark

Both Change and % Change columns in portfolio editor view have stopped displaying any values . They used to work just fine displaying positive (in Green) and negative (in red) figures. What's up?
I am running personal version 12.9

Thx

Hi Costas,

Do you mean they are blank, or they are displaying 0? I am guessing you mean they are displaying 0.

The Portfolio Editor data is relative to the current computer's date. The Change and %Change are from yesterday to today. So, if you're seeing 0, that means yesterday's and today's prices are the same, or more likely you don't have prices for today. To verify, open up an investment in the Data Register, and select "Prices" for the data type, so you can see your recorded closing prices. What price do you have for today? What do you have for yesterday?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi again

In e.g. the case of a mutual fund the price retrieved is always 1 day stale compared to the system today date e.g. 5/9. E.g. if for an investment say the 5/8 value on the register is 215 for the price close of 5/8 and value for 5/7 is 214 for the close of 5/7, the latest change displayed should +1. But instead as the application logs the today's date 5/9 , vs. yesterday's close value of 215 it always displays 0..
strangest is that it used to display the difference correctly measuring the change between the two latest values retrieved and contained in the register .. but this somewhat stopped being the case
Is that an inconsistency or am I missing something ?..

thx

Hi Costas,

It depends when you are viewing this. It doesn't go by the last 2 data points, it goes from today (5/9) to yesterday (5/8). The price on 5/7 is not a factor when viewing today (5/9). In a future update we plan to offer another set of fields that use your last 2 data points instead of yesterday to today, but that is how it works now, and has always worked.
Thanks,
Mark
