Duplicate Holdings with Same Symbol

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby comnwworks » Tue Sep 29, 2015 2:47 pm

I import transactions from my broker. Two holdings with different names, but the same symbol have shown up in my transactions. The total holdings equal the combination of the two names, but I cannot specify lots accurately and my reporting is not accurate (it doesn't show one of the names). Should I manually back one of the names out, or is there another way to handle this what should I do to prevent this in the future? Tks

Hi comnwworks,

Do they have the same CUSIP property assigned under "Investment Properties..."? Transaction retrieve matches on CUSIP. Maybe there was some corporate action or something that caused a change in the CUSIP, so you ended up with 2 investments.

You can use the Data Register and copy/paste all the transactions from investment 1 to investment 2, and then close investment 1. Make sure investment 1 is the one that has the current/correct CUSIP, so that future transactions go into this investment.

For a Data Register tutorial to help with this, see:
